At the CRAF Center’s 25th Anniversary Celebration Pig Roast on August 12, ACT NOW Board Members John Ellis (Chair) and Mike Briggs (Co-Chair) along with Officer Eric Muszynski of the Gerrish Police Department presented a $1,000 donation to Pat Riss from the CRAF Center.
The CRAF (Community Recreation Activities Fitness) Center is housed in the “old middle school” in Roscommon and became the CRAF Center in 1993. The building is owned and operated by the Roscommon Metropolitan Recreation Authority and has had major renovations with the largest improvements inside that began in 2016. Upgrades, remodeling and new equipment costs of over $160,000 have been made possible by donations from the Roscommon DDA, Roscommon Rotary Club, Roscommon Community Foundation, area businesses, service organizations, individuals from the community and CRAF Center members.
The CRAF Center offers many community services such as fitness/weight rooms, classes/meetings, facility rooms/gym rentals, open gym, pickleball, aerobic classes, adult enrichment classes (Yoga, Tai Chi, Clogging, Karate), Silver Sneakers Program (for older adults to improve muscular strength and range of motion), Gazebo Free Concerts, Winter Workshops and a Kids Calendar of Events. The building also houses North Sport Physical Therapy and the Mikenauk Rock and Gem Club.
