Firearms Training for Gerrish Officers

Gerrish Township Police Officers were at the Kirtland Firearms Range yesterday and participated in a “Multiple Levels of Force Drill” with their duty and off-duty weapons and Taser.  The department trains at least twice a year and must meet all minimum requirements set forth by MCOLES (Michigan Commission On Law Enforcement Standards) in several tasks of weapons handling proficiency and safety.

Department Firearms Instructor & Armorer Officer Norm LaBonte arranges all of the shoots and sets up and guides officers through the courses in the Spring and Fall every year.  Congratulations to Officer Martin who received his “Distinguished Expert” award/pin at this shoot.
