Julie began working part-time with the Gerrish Township Police Department in January of 1984. Julie is considered the administrative professional for the Department and frequently devotes many extra hours to insure that the Department runs smoothly. The Administrative Clerk position became full-time in July of 2021.
Julie is very active in the Community Policing philosophy and lends many of her computer skills and creativity to the Gerrish Township Police Department’s community partnerships. That is, she currently serves as a volunteer Secretary to the Advisory Community Team-Neighbors on Watch Executive Board which is the Department’s neighborhood watch parent group. She has received training in the Community Policing philosophy both in the Department as well as out of the area training.
Julie maintains a very streamlined and efficient office. That means that the Chief, Lieutenant, Sergeant, and Patrol Officers have little difficulty tracking reports or any other necessary paperwork important to police service. Additionally, Julie maintains personnel, medical, payroll and training files as well as the processing of computer-generated documents and forms.
Julie assists in budget preparation and keeps monthly records for the budget expenses and revenues including submitting incident reports for Cost Recovery. Julie maintains the Department inventory records, and retention of the Department’s compiled reports and documents. She serves as the coordinator for the Michigan Justice Training Council and as a contact person for MCOLES (Michigan Commission On Law Enforcement Standards) and MITN (MCOLES Information and Tracking Network).
Julie assists the Administrative staff with grant writing and grant follow-up and reporting. She maintains the Township Federal System for Award Management (SAM) account and maintains the Department’s Policy & Procedure Manual, Field Training Officer (FTO) Manual and assists with the Officer’s training schedule. Also processes monthly and yearly State and Federal reporting forms and documents.
Julie is an Administrator on the Gerrish Police Department’s website and frequently updates web pages and postings. She also creates and maintains the Department’s social media platforms.
Everyone at the Department relies heavily on her organizational skills and appreciates all the work that she does to make our jobs easier. She also assists officers with property check forms, well-being check forms, PBT’s, GTPOA (Gerrish Township Police Officers Association) affairs and takes information for non-emergent walk-in or phone-in complaints.
