May 22-28, 2021 marks the observance week and is the annual kick-off of the Safe Boating Campaign. This is a global awareness effort that encourages boaters to make the most of their boating adventures by being responsible…it is also a great opportunity to remind all boaters to brush up on boating safety skills and prepare for the 2021 boating season!
Here are so boating safety tips:
- Wear a life jacket.
- Make sure your life jacket is U.S. Coast Guard approved, appropriate for your water activity and fits properly.
- Know state boating laws.
- Take a boating safety course.
- Make sure your boat is prepared.
- Be sure to know your boat’s capacity.
- Check the weather, including the water temperature.
- Dress properly.
- Always file a float plan.
- Always follow navigation rules
- Don’t drink while you boat.
- Beware of carbon monoxide poisoning.
- Keep in touch.
